Introduction:

This course of sessions is provided and has been designed by qualified and experienced Club member Stuart Cumine to take an individual who is already a confident cyclist on the road/cycle paths through to being able to handle Level 1 technical terrain on a mountain bike and build fitness.

Sessions are every 2 weeks, followed by an afternoon social ride to practice and embed skills (see detail below). The morning sessions are designed to ease riders into the skills and techniques needed to ride and more importantly feel confidence when doing so.  While attendance at each session is recommended it is not essential, but leaders reserve the right to refuse attendees to participate in post session of wild rides and sessions 5 and 6.

Session 2 – Cockpit Adjustment, Braking and Balance Games, Track Stands, Flow and No Pedal & Time Challenges.

POST SESSION RIDE – Location TBC 10km Max

Bike and Kit Requirements:

Initial equipment/kit is minimal and can be picked up relatively cheaply.  The club at this time has no loan bikes and therefore participants should have a serviceable mountain bike with a minimum of front suspension and off-road tires.  Bikes should be free of such things as bike mounted D Locks, and accessories should be limited to lights, off road style mudguards, water bottles and a bell and cycle computer if desired.  Pedals can be clipped or flat.
