Tree Planting Conservation Day

Activity Type:

  • Conservation

Start date:

18/03/2023

Details (public view):

Spend a day planting trees and help create the Great Avon Wood, a new 100-acre woodland just south of Bristol. Over the next three years, hundreds of volunteers will help plant and care for 40,000 trees. Announced in February 2023, this is a new project from local charity Avon Needs Trees, their most ambitious to date. We've arranged an AOAC tree planting day which is run for us by Avon Needs Trees.

You’ll learn the techniques for planting native tree saplings: over 30 different species will be planted at Great Avon Wood. No experience necessary!

The site is in the beautiful countryside on the northern edge of the Chew Valley, only 5 miles from central Bristol. You can cycle, drive or catch a bus. The day will run from 10am to 4pm. You will need wellies or boots, suitable clothing, a packed lunch and a flask. All tools will be provided, including gardening gloves but if you can bring your own that would be appreciated. The site has shelter and toilets.

There is no charge for this event (other than the usual 25p booking fee).
