A session covering the fundamentals of trad climbing with some of the experienced climbers in the club. Topics will include:

  • Selecting running belay and anchor placements.
  • Choosing and placing trad protection.
  • Building a belay, and belaying from above.
  • Being a competent 'second'.

If you want to step into the wonderful world of trad climbing then this session is for you. A prerequisite is that you must be a minimum of 'Novice'  experience level as defined in the Climbing SOPs and will be expected to have your own harness, shoes and belay device. Helmets must be worn for the activity but can be hired from the club if you don't yet have your own.
