Come and join us on the first New Members Weekend of 2020 - A perfect opportunity to meet Club members and get stuck into some lovely outdoor pursuits!   You can join the Club for 3 months using our £2 introductory offer which will allow you to book on events such as this one so you may want to think about that nearer the time or try something else on the calendar.

The event is open to all members and is a great way to sample some of the activities that we get up to in the AOAC.  All this takes place against the backdrop of the beautiful Exmoor National Park, about a 1 hour and forty minute drive from Bristol.  As well as the outdoor activities, you will enjoy the friendly, sociable atmosphere which these weekends are famous for.

It's a Multi-Activity weekend - staying at a bunkhouse within reach of the North Devon coast and on the Southern fringe of Exmoor National Park.  Although it is in a rural setting, the North Devon coastline is only 20 minutes away.  Water babies might want to pack a wetsuit, just in case.

In order to keep the group from fragmenting, we are focusing the activities on MTB and walking.  The location of the bunkhouse lends itself to both.   All levels of ability are welcomed into The Club, so don’t be put off if you are a newcomer to an activity.  All AOAC activities are subject to securing the services of an Activity Leader.

There will be at least one person heading off to the nearest parkrun on the Saturday morning (not an AOAC-led activity) or you are free to just relax in beautiful surroundings.   Other potential activities (offered by a local provider and subject to availability) include stand up paddle boarding and coasteering, although anyone wanting to try these in March would need to be brave!  If anyone is interested in these activities then please let the trip organiser know.

There is a climbing wall on site and experienced climbers can register to use the facility if they still have energy after a day of walking and biking.

Although Exmoor is hilly, it offers cycling for all. Its hills present challenges to road cyclists and off-road enjoyment to mountain bikers.  Relatively easy road cycling routes can be followed along the top of Exmoor, down its valleys and around its lower slopes.

The bunkhouse sleeps up to 38 over two dormitories – don’t worry, we are not filling the entire bunkhouse so there will be plenty of space and you won’t be crammed in like sardines.   You will need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillows - don’t forget to bring Teddy.

Food will be provided on the Friday night as part of the deal.  We have invited a Top European Chef to cook for us on Saturday night.  If Gordon Ramsay doesn't get back to us then we will wheel out the AOAC Kitchen Giants.  The trip is worth the asking price for this alone.

The bunkhouse has a fully equipped kitchen and has plenty of space to kick back and relax in the evening.
