The Scilly Isles – only 26 miles off Land’s End, but with white, tropical-looking sandy beaches. The Scilly Isles are a fantastic place to explore. You can choose from:
-
paddling around the islands by sea kayak;
-
island hopping by boat to visit places such as the tropical gardens on Tresco, and the storm battered Hell Bay on Bryher;
-
taking a boat trip to see the seals and other wildlife;
-
diving or snorkelling to check out the underwater wildlife;
-
or, if you’d rather stay on the surface, sailing dinghies, windsurfs and “sit on” kayaks are available for hire;
-
and, of course, there’s plenty of walking, chilling out at the pub and watching gig (rowing) races.
The club is running a week long camping trip to the Isles for 14 people from Saturday 7 to Saturday 14 July. We’ll be travelling by ferry from Penzance, camping for 7 nights on the main island, St Mary’s, and then taking the ferry back to Penzance.
