Introduction to Sea Kayaking

Activity Type:

  • Kayaking & Canoeing

Start date:

15/05/2021 to 16/05/2021

Details (public view):

This weekend is to introduce people with Explore/2* level paddling skills to the delights of sea kayaking. Day one will focus on paddling skills and tips, and getting used to your boat, and will be in a sheltered location. On day 2 we will do a sheltered day trip. Places limited to 4 people.

Location is TBC. Will be weather and current COVID restrictions dependent (both impossible to predict in advance!) For example, day 1 could be at Clevedon Marine Lake or a local flat river (be prepared to get wet practising rescues). Day 2 would involve a day trip to on the sea, river or canal, putting into action skills learnt on day 1. It is unlikely we'll be able to camp as a group anyway for this weekend.

You will need your own sea kayaking equipment but you can hire this from AOAC through the website provided restrictions allow. We need to arrange to collect and return, ideally on the Thurs or Fri before the event.

Completing this weekend will enable you to access more sea kayaking skills coaching and go on future club-led sea kayaking trips of an appropriate level (look out for them on the club calendar).

Cost per Person/Deposit:

£0.25
