Introduction to sea kayaking, for paddlers who have completed the Explore or (old style) 2* British Canoeing award. Paddlers who have some existig experience but no formal BC qualification may join the trip if their paddling is at an equivalent standard to Explore, subject to a check by the leaders.

After completing this informal training you will be able to join club trips at beginner level.

General format for the weekend is to arrive at the campsite in Swanage on the Friday night for a pub dinner (optional) and a briefing. We may cover some of the basics of sea kayak navigation and trip planning if there is sufficient interest.

On Saturday we will paddle in Poole Harbour, a natural harbour  which provides excellent sheltered opportunities to practice sea-kayak specific skills.

On Sunday, weather permitting, we usually paddle from Studland around the spectacular Old Harry's Rock, to consolidate the skills learned and practice rescues.
