Lycian Trail highlights by Sea Kayak
Photos: Amber Tours Agency, Kaş
Join me for a sea kayak expedition along the Turkish coast this October, as I revisit some of my favourite places along the Lycian Trail.
Highlights include:
- Paddling out of Kaş - a wonderful seaside town on the Turquoise Coast
- Lycian ruins - rock-cut tombs, Olympos, Sunken City of Kekova
- Access to the Lycian Trail, to see views, ruins, the Chimera (eternal flames)
- Warm paddling, swimming, snorkeling, beach camping, some eating out
- Adventure and camaraderie on a sea kayak expedition
This trip is for people who are:
- sea kayakers of at least a strong intro-mediate level (ask me if unsure)
- happy to pack and paddle a sea kayak for at least 20 km days
- comfortable wild camping (and toileting)
- happy to get involved and contribute - helping out with group chores
- happy to respect the natural environment and Turkish culture
What is included:
The price of this trip includes only the hire and shuttling of the rented sea kayak equipment. I will be the trip organiser and sea kayak leader, and will have a deputy for these roles.
What's not included:
- Flights - there are direct flights to Antalya from Bristol (~£268 + bags)
- Airport Shuttle - about 3 hrs from the airport to Kaş
- Accommodation in Kaş - 3 nights that we'll arrange as a group (£20-£30pppn)
- Kitty contribution for expedition expenses (food, water, campsites if we choose)
- Eating out in Kaş
- Personal spending money
Overall, I would not be surprised if the whole trip added up to somewhere between £800 and £1000
Itinerary:
We will be sea kayaking from Sunday 5th to Saturday 11th October. I plan to spend 2 nights in Kaş beforehand to relax, speak to the outfitter, gel as a group and scope out provisions. After the trip we'll return for a night in Kaş for a group meal and to prepare for onward travel.
