This is the first opportunity of the year to complete this course with AOAC. The British Canoeing Discover Award is the replacement for BCU 1 Star. This award will be taken in a kayak.

The course is aimed at beginners and is the first step into the world of paddlesport. You will learn the basic skills necessary for a fun and safe time on the water.

The course teaches practical skills including how to stay in control and move your craft in the required direction as well as basic safety and rescue.

The course also looks at decision making and develops an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling, including clothing, equipment and the environment.

This award will allow you to progress to the British Canoeing Explore Award in a Kayak, which the club will be running this summer.
