Day paddle on the Bristol Channel. Route depends on conditions but hoping to paddle under the Severn Crossing which is an amazing experience.

This trip is for experienced paddlers only who are competent in tides 3+ knots, force 4/5 winds, can manoeuvre in 'conditions' and are confident being away from the coastline. You will need to be able to maintain a speed of around 6km/hour for around 5-6 hours over the day (we will paddle for 55 minutes then a 5 minute break) plus a longer break when we get to our destination.

You will also need to be competent in being rescued in deep water; roll preferable but not essential.

The Bristol Channel can get quite wild when there is wind over tide so we will only go under the Severn Crossing if conditions are right. Other (shorter) options are out to Denny Island or up the coast. If conditions are too windy we will have to cancel but let’s hope we can get out.
