A session covering the skills and kit required for abseiling with some of the experienced climbers in the club. Topics will include:

• Abseil devices and backup (prussik) knots

• Getting onto the abseil rope safely.

• Abseiling practice.

• Ascending the abseil rope.

If you already have some experience of trad climbing then this will be a very useful skill to learn.  A prerequisite is that you must be a minimum of 'Novice' experience level as defined in the Climbing SOPs and will be expected to have your own harness, shoes and belay device. Helmets must be worn for the activity but can be hired from the club if you don't yet have your own
