AOAC Website meeting – 30th November

This is just a reminder that we have a meeting for all members on the development of the AOAC club website on Monday 30th November at 7.30pm. Below is a link to the online meeting.

https://aoac.co.uk/content/aoac-website-meeting-all-members

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the future of the club website as we are potentially investing in it a significant amount of money. At the meeting we will discuss; why we are looking at the website, the options available to us, and the Committee’s recommendations. We will then open the floor to discussions. After the meeting we will send a summary of the Committee’s presentation. We will also send a link to a Doodle poll so that members can vote to approve or reject the Committee’s website plans and the costs that will entail.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Ang Curnow R.I.P.
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Ang on 5th November. Lovely Ang was a former member, and wife of the wonderful Russ Curnow. Taken far too early, having battled cancer for most of this year; she will be greatly missed.

Ang spent her last weeks being exceptionally well cared for at St Peter's Hospice; they even assisted in creating an early Christmas Day so Ang didn't miss that special time. Russ and Ang's children, Josh and Hollie, have already created a fundraiser in support of this wonderful charity and some of you may already have kindly donated to this good cause, however Ang's wish was to also raise money for and  Macmillan Cancer Support, who were such a great support to Russ and his family during these very difficult times. Russ has already planned a family version of AOAC's 17 mile Chew Valley Three Peaks Circular Walk for the weekend after the club event, which will be a great challenge for them to complete.

If you'd like to donate to St Peter's Hospice for this event the link is:

The Committee has suggested it would be lovely if members of AOAC could be a part of Russ's fundraising. We have considered a quiz but think there must be some more inventive and exciting ways to raise money. Put your thinking caps on and let Russ know your ideas at [email protected]m

If you would like to donate to Russ's fundraiser for Macmillan please do so through this link:

Our thoughts are with Russ and his family at this very sad time and know his many friends in AOAC are there to support him.

Penultimate member of the committee....

Treasurer - Alan

I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors and was told about AOAC 3 years ago when I joined for the ski trip. I’ve now done 3 ski trips and found so much more.

Since joining I’ve taken up kayaking and canoeing which I’ve really enjoyed as well as cycling and walking which I’ve done for a while.  Just wish I had more time for it all!

I’m in my second year on the committee, helping count the pennies as treasurer.

The club has been great for making new friends as well as learning some new skills… just wish I’d  found out about it earlier!

Alan

Hopefully see you on an event soon. Look out on calendar, forum and Facebook for future events x

If you have any interesting news/funny stories/free videos/tales of your favourite trips/tips that may help club members, in fact, anything that might be of interest/entertaining, to brighten up the next newsletter, please let me know at [email protected] . Thank you.

Stay safe and stay well

Cathy x
